Jennifer Tilly, born on September 16, 1958 in Los Angeles under extremely poor conditions. Her mother was a schoolteacher and an unsuccessful actor, and her father sold automobiles. Jennifer, second in the family of four frequently attended her mother's performance in the theater and very much impressed. Jennifer's parents separated after she turned five. Jennifer was a part of her life living in British Columbia, after her mother moved there with her four children. Jennifer was never the studious kind, even though it was true she had a talent for art in her youth. Because of her experience in the public schools of Canada, Jennifer was the subject of much bullying. As she entered high school, her enthusiasm for theater began to wane. In order to combat this, her mother helped to take part as an extra in a variety of productions. Her children all were inspired by their mother to follow their passion for art.
